"Mad Dog Mattis" resigns: White House in chaos

US Defense Secretary James Mattis has finally announced his long-anticipated resignation. Mattis will leave his job at the end of February. He is a retired Marine Corps general and was known as a stabilizing force in President Trump's cabinet. In a tweet, President Trump said Mattis is retiring at the end of February after serving in his administration. But in his resignation letter, the outgoing defense secretary said he was stepping down so that Trump could have a defense chief whose views align more closely with his own.
